ABOUT TRIBALSITE

A Message from the Editors . . .

Welcome to TribalSite. We hope you enjoy visiting us - we've enjoyed creating this information resource!

TribalSite was conceived to provide a forum for all those who share an interest in traditional tribal cultures and ethnographic art from around the world.

As someone deeply rooted in the past, I am a lover of tradition, of tribal cultures and ethnographic art, yet I'm also fascinated by our high-tech times and the chance to communicate on a worldwide scale.

We are at the end of the tribal era, a fast-disappearing way of life that has been with us for tens of thousands of years. A vast accumulation of knowledge that was developed by people following a very different path than ourselves will be gone. TribalSite is about these people, their culture and their art: what they know and what they can teach us, even at this late date.

We intend to update TribalSite on a continual basis. We therefore hope that you will not only enjoy the following pages but also return frequently to check on the latest.

John Fowler, Editor-in-Chief
